Welcome to Skipjack Cottage, a serene and hidden gem tucked away in the heart of Tybee Island. Located on the beachside of Butler Avenue, this charming retreat sits quietly on a private lane that leads to a path over the dunes and onto the beach. From there, it is a short stroll to the Tybee Beach Pier and Pavilion.

With wide wraparound porches, cozy gathering spaces, and the charm of "old Tybee," Skipjack Cottage invites you to slow down, relax, and enjoy island living at its best. Skipjack is a genuine slice of old Tybee with modern comforts.

The main living area is on the second floor. Porches wrap around the house on the south and east sides. In addition to the kitchen, dining, and living rooms, there are three bedrooms: one with a king bed and two with queen beds. There are two full bathrooms upstairs. All of the upstairs bedrooms have doors that open onto the porch, and an old building technique for cross ventilation prior to air conditioning. But don't worry, central cooling and heating now provide year-round comfort!

When you are ready, all you have to do is saunter down the gravel lane to the beach. There is a private path through the dunes available to guests and residents of the Lane, but it is not a public access crossover. From our door, it is 5 houses down to the path! Super easy and convenient.

And when you return, you can slip down the jasmine arbor on the side of the house to the outdoor shower to rinse off before you head in for lunch, a nap, a cocktail, whatever! Its your vacation!

On the ground floor are two bedrooms: one with a queen bed and one with a twin and a trundle. There is a full bathroom downstairs.

*It is important to note that there is no internal staircase to the first floor. All access to the first-floor bedrooms and living area is through external staircases and doors. *

The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals: microwave, oven, gas range, dishwasher, refrigerator with filtered water and an ice maker, and your choice of a regular drip coffee maker or a Keurig. We also provide you with a starter portion of coffee and fixings when you arrive. If cooking isn't on your agenda, you're just a short stroll from many of Tybee's best restaurants.

The porches and downstairs play space may be the Skipjack's best feature. Upstairs, receiving the morning light from the east and then rays all day as the sun arcs south, the porches are expansive and inviting, with seating for playing games, for snacks and cocktails, or just lounging with a book and no particular place to go. This is what you came to Tybee to find.

In the gated ground-floor outdoor space, there is a ping-pong table, beach equipment, a cart, a gas grill, a laundry room with a washer, dryer, and drying rack, and plenty of space to play if you are bringing younger family members.

The laundry room is off the downstairs space, adjacent to the downstairs bedrooms. Washer, dryer, beach towels... everything you need is here.

*This house is ideal for 8 guests. It can accommodate 10, but the 5th bedroom, one of the two downstairs, is a twin with a twin trundle. Kids will enjoy the space, but it may not be suitable or ideal for all adults.*

We hope you choose to enjoy your time away at our house here on Tybee. Skipjack is waiting for you.
